My name is Nico Stude. I started my apprenticeship at LEUE & NILL on 01.08.2019 and successfully completed it on 19.01.2022. During my training, I gained insight into several areas. These include motoring, AXA claims, finances, transport and AXA sales. I have now stayed with the AXA Sales department after my training.
How did you come up with the idea of doing the apprenticeship at Leue?
I came across LEUE & NILL through my father. He works at LEUE & NILL at the Münster branch. There I was already able to gain insights into the field of insurance through a temporary job and therefore decided to apply to LEUE & NILL in Dortmund.
How did your working week go?
In the first two years of my apprenticeship, I attended vocational school part-time. That means I had 1 ½ days of school a week and worked 3 ½ days. In the last year of my apprenticeship, I switched to block teaching as I was able to bring forward my final exam by six months thanks to my good grades at school. The block course lasted about 3 months and ended with the written final exam in November. After that, I went back to work. The final oral exam followed in mid-January.
Do you have fond memories of your training at LEUE & NILL?
I like to think back to my training, as I always had to deal with nice and committed people. Both the trainers and the training managers. We were a great team with the other trainees and the training managers.
What caused you the most problems at the beginning of your apprenticeship?
In the beginning, I had a bit of a hard time making phone calls. But after the first few conversations, it subsides and you become more confident and relaxed. I actually didn't have any big problems with the sleep rhythm, even if I prefer to sleep a little longer if I can.
A highlight moment in training
A highlight moment of the training was definitely our joint trainee excursion to the Movie Park 2020. But you also experienced great moments in the company and around the training.
Funniest moment in training
There were many funny moments during the training. No one really stands out. In any case, our two training managers always had good sayings in store. I like to remember trade fairs that we attended and had funny conversations.
How did things go for you after your apprenticeship?
After my training, I will now, as already mentioned, work in the AXA sales department and do not plan to make any changes in the future, as there is a great team in this department where I feel very comfortable. I will probably do further training as an insurance specialist or technical underwriter in the near future.
Were your expectations met during the training? Or what did you hope for before the apprenticeship?
I hoped that the training would make the people nice and competent. That was definitely fulfilled. As an apprentice, you can't always do everything right all the time. You also have to have a bit of patience and the competence to convey the technical things well. The human aspect has also always been a good fit. Thus, my expectations were met.
Are you still in contact with your former trainee colleagues? How was your relationship with the other trainees in general?
The relationship with other trainees was great. Always on a friendly and sympathetic level. One or two friendships have also developed that will certainly last a long time. And at the moment there is still contact with some of them, both privately and professionally via LEUE & NILL.
What was your relationship like with your training supervisors?
The relationship with my training managers was also really good. Friendships have definitely developed there. In our private lives, we have already done one or two things together.
How do you like the atmosphere in our company?
The atmosphere in the company at LEUE & NILL is very pleasant. What I found very positive was above all that you are also valued as an apprentice.
Did you find the training stressful or did you feel stressed during your training?
At the end of the training with the block lessons and the final exam, it was of course stressful, that's part of it. During the first two years, it was not so stressful in terms of school and business. You always had enough time to prepare for exams properly and to do the tasks in the company at the same time.
