Our beginnings go back to the year 1864. At that time, Albert Leue took over an agency of the "Vaterländische Feuerversicherungs-AG" in Dortmund. At the same time, Julius Nill brokered his first fire insurance policy to a toy factory in Nuremberg. In 1879, he expanded his activities and founded the Nill-Nuremberg general agency.
Albert Nill's son Carl remained loyal to the industry and in 1881 founded a general agency for the "Transatlantische Feuerversicherungs-AG" in Dortmund, which he operated together with his brother Albert. In Nuremberg, Julius Nill's son Wilhelm took over "Nill-Nürnberg" and continuously expanded it.

FROM LEUE & CO. BECOMES LEUE & NILL
Until the beginning of the 1950s, the businesses of the Leue and Nill families continued to develop independently of each other. Until Erich Leue was able to win Stefan Nill as a partner in his company. One year later, in 1954, the company Leue & Co. was renamed LEUE & NILL. Thus the families were united by the grandsons of the two company founders. Due to the continuing economic success, the company grew continuously. By the centenary, the number of employees had risen to 160.
SHAPING STRUCTURAL CHANGE
Axel and Dietrich Nill joined the family business in 1969 - in turbulent times. The structural change in the Ruhr region was becoming apparent, and the two of them sensed earlier than most of their competitors what consequences this would have for companies in the then dominant industries of coal, steel and beer. In order to make their own company more independent of individual industry developments, the two pursued two key strategies. Firstly, they expanded beyond the regional boundaries of the region, and secondly, they developed insurance solutions tailored to specific customer needs that were not available anywhere else. This approach proved to be very successful. And so today we can count numerous world market leaders and "hidden champions" among our customers, whom we have had the privilege of accompanying from their founding onwards. Thanks to the right course and highly motivated employees, Axel and Dietrich Nill were able to develop their company into one of the most efficient brokers in the industry in Germany over the following decades.
THE NEW GENERATION TAKES OVER
As representatives of the fifth generation, Joachim and Stefan Nill joined the company in 2000. With them, the continuous expansion of our international activities began. Stations on this path were, for example, that we were the only German company allowed to become a partner of Assurex Global. The world's largest network of independent insurance brokers is represented at more than 600 locations worldwide. In 2011, a special honor was bestowed on Stefan Nill, who was the first non-U.S. citizen to be elected Chairman of the network's Board of Directors and remains a member of the Board to this day.
Since 2007, Klaus-Michael Ossenkopp has strengthened the management team as the first non-family member with his expertise, which he acquired in management positions at well-known insurance companies, among others.
