Jacqueline Löffler

Bachelor of Arts in Insurance Management

I am Jacqueline Löffler, 25 years old and I successfully completed my dual study program in spring 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Insurance Management. I completed my apprenticeship in January 2021.

How did you decide to do your apprenticeship at LEUE & NILL?

I was interested in a dual study program in the insurance sector and discovered the LuNA website and the insurance broker LEUE & NILL through internet research. I found the site very appealing and personal, which was later confirmed in a personal interview.

How did your working week go?

I was at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts on Mondays and Tuesdays - except during the semester break and the lecture-free period.

At the beginning of the training, BWV lessons took place very often. However, this reduced over time. Then the BWV lessons took place about once a month on Wednesdays to Fridays. The following Friday there was an exam.

We were a small group of 19 people at both the FH and the BWV. This was very pleasant because we quickly grew together.

I spent the rest of my time in the respective department in the company where I was employed at the time and dealt with both the department's tasks and current LuNA projects.

All in all, I went through the pension, VIP, technical insurance and transportation departments and worked in an AXA agency. In the end, I opted for the technical insurance department (machinery, electronics and business interruption insurance) and I am still very satisfied.

Do you have fond memories of your training at LEUE & NILL?

The dual study program naturally presented me with challenges at one point or another. Especially at the beginning, the double burden of working and studying was new to me and I had to find my feet. But after that it was really fun.

I look back fondly on my training and think it was well organized in our company. We went on lots of excursions - both as LuNAs and with the departments. The Covid-19 pandemic has of course made this a little more difficult, but our training managers Marco and Simon have nevertheless made an effort to maintain a strong team spirit. We also have a good relationship with our training managers. If there was a discrepancy or two, we could always turn to them with confidence. We could always count on their support - this was a real relief, especially when it came to the final exam.

What caused you the most problems at the beginning of your apprenticeship?

The double burden of studying and working was quite unusual at first and I was often exhausted. However, this passed relatively quickly. Making phone calls was also unfamiliar at the beginning, but I got a lot of practice with this during my time at the agency.

I also received an introduction to the processes and the system in the first department. Once I was able to work with this, I was able to get to grips with the content of the department even better.

A highlight moment in training

My highlight was my visit to the stadium in November 2018. I had just started my apprenticeship at LEUE & NILL and had never been to Dortmund's Westfalenstadion before. We got something to eat and drink, watched the game and had a great day.

Funniest moment in training

There were too many to choose just one. Every time we did something as a group, everyone had a lot of fun. Whether it was a visit to the stadium, a visit to the DKM, the Christmas parties or simply the weekly trainee rounds.

Are you still in contact with your former trainee colleagues? How was your relationship with the other trainees in general?

There was a pleasant atmosphere among us trainees.

I had more contact with the other dual students than with the trainees, but I think that was because the school courses were quite different and so we had more in common with each other. We exchanged experiences and learning material with each other and spent the breaks together.

How do you like the atmosphere in our company?

I found and still find the atmosphere very positive. Of course, there were a few disagreements that I noticed as a trainee. On the whole, however, I found everyone to be very welcoming and I am currently very happy in my department and happy to have such nice and reliable colleagues around me.
