Introduction of the interviewee (name, department, etc.)
I am Lena Makowski, I started my apprenticeship at LEUE & NILL on 01.08.2021 and finished on 15.01.2024. I now work in the Technical Insurance Operations department in the AXA Group.
How did you come up with the idea of doing the apprenticeship at Leue?
When I applied to several insurance companies here in Dortmund, I came across a job advertisement for LEUE & NILL by chance and then applied here too.
How did your working week go (when school or FH)?
In the first and second year of my apprenticeship, I always had vocational school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and was at work or working from home on the other days. The home office days varied from department to department. In the third year of my apprenticeship, I switched from part-time to block teaching due to the shortening of my apprenticeship.
Do you have fond memories of your training at Leue & Nill?
Yes, I really enjoyed my apprenticeship. I got on well with my fellow trainees and we had a great time.
What caused you the most problems at the beginning of your training? Such as talking on the phone, sleeping patterns, etc.
I think, as with many others, talking on the phone is one of the things you don't like doing. But over time you get used to it and then it's no longer unpleasant.
A highlight moment in training
The highlights were always the time spent together with the other trainees, for example on excursions or at trade fairs such as the DKM.
What happened to you after your apprenticeship? In other words, your career
After my training, I first settled into the "normal working day" in the TV department. In March 2024, I then started further training to become a business administrator.
Are you still in contact with your former trainee colleagues? How was your relationship with the other trainees in general?
I'm still in contact with my trainee colleagues and I'm also happy to run into each other from time to time or spend lunch breaks together.
What was your relationship like with your training supervisors?
I always got on well with my training supervisors. They had an open ear for any issues and you didn't feel like you had to deal with anything on your own.
Did you find the training stressful or did you feel stressed during your training? e.g. school, university
On the whole, I had few periods of stress. Stressful phases only occurred during exams and before the final exams.
