Interview with a Dualo

Please introduce yourself:

Hi, I'm Lukas and I've been doing the dual study program at LEUE & NILL since August 2023. I am 19 years old and really enjoy my studies. I am very grateful that I have found a very pleasant and familiar training place with LEUE & NILL.

What does a typical week look like for you?

On Mondays and Tuesdays, I spend the whole working day at university, while the rest of the week I work at the company or from home.

How does a year/semester work?

A semester begins with the lecture period, during which you are at the university on Mondays and Tuesdays. This phase lasts until the examination period. During the examination phase, which lasts several weeks, there are no more regular lectures - you only attend the university for the examinations. Once the exams are over, there is a semester break of around two months, during which you can work the whole week at the company or take your vacation.

How stressful is the dual study program?

The stress level in the dual study program varies greatly. During the lecture period, the stress level is generally moderate and easy to cope with. In the examination phase, on the other hand, stress levels increase significantly, as examinations often follow each other closely and require intensive preparation. Nevertheless, the workload can be managed well with good time management.

What was your best/worst moment?

The best moment of my studies was the beginning. Everything was new: the first lectures, new acquaintances and the excitement of what was to come.
There were hardly any bad moments. If there were any, they were mostly related to exams.

How is your everyday life at the company?

It always depends on the department. As a rule, you are given tasks by your trainer or work together with them. This varies from writing emails to customers to team meetings with the insurer.

Why did you decide to do this?

I opted for the dual study program because I like the combination of insurance and business administration and I am interested in both subjects.

Do you have any tips in advance?

An important tip for studying is not to despair too much about the difficulty. With a little effort and good organization, it is quite doable.

Would you choose it again?

Yes, I would choose the dual study program again. I don't regret this decision, as it offers me both theoretical knowledge and valuable practical experience.
